Why I had to resort to social media to get a refund from streamline.net… #socialmedia

Streamline.net have a shocking on-line footprint

So an ongoing saga with a shocking hosting company… who have completely ignored all the complaints from their customers… just google streamline.net and see how many disgruntled customers are threatening them with trading standards… and they are not even looking at their shocking on-line footprint let alone listening.

Some 18 months ago this company changed their way of doing things… no longer can you disable renewal of hosting and domain names… unless you email them it will happen… sadly even if you email them it will also happen…. they delete without reading the emails you send and ignore completely the comments you make on support tickets.

Their 0844 number goes straight through to I believe Thailand but I could be wrong… it isn’t in the UK and anyway we may as well be speaking chinese anyway for all the good it will do… anyway the UK numbers are below…. and be sure to say hello to their Customer Services Director Simon Yeoman or perhaps try for the very elusive MD Andy Durton…. I seem to have Simon’s email address as Simon Yeoman (simon.yeoman@fasthosts.com) and you will see that Streamline.Net and Fasthosts are linked companies as it appears is Dollamore… from the conversation with Mr Yeoman don’t be surprised to see the streamline “brand” disappear… given the on-line hammering they have had I am not surprised…

01452 561801 or 561802…

So back to issues…. I have repeatedly emailed them and said you do not have my permission to take that… including the bulk hosting they renewed in January which I very clearly told them on-line and in email NOT to renew… sadly these emails kept being deleted unread and the payments were taken…

4 x this year streamline.net have illegally removed money from my account… and goodness knows how many last year… I only got a director by making 4 phone calls and threatening to block all of their lines by putting their landline number out to my 1800 twitter followers and asking for help to bring their lines down… 5 minutes later Simon Yeoman Streamline.net s Customer Service Director came on the line.

In February I eventually posted on a facebook fanpage for streamline.net which did not mince words… it was ignored as were subsequent postings… Simon Yeoman was not aware of anything on-line especially not the facebook page…. it seems these people are burying their head in the sand about what is being said about them on-line which really is not a good thing to do with the advent of social media platforms…

Having spoken to him twice last week I gave him every opportunity to sort out the issues but really was not impressed with either his responses or his commitment to ensure it does not happen again.  Frankly they seem to be uncaring about customers of streamline.net as long as they keep collecting their unathorised payments from your bank account.

When I suggested they should have spelled out in more detail what they intended doing and what it meant I was told it was my fault i hadn’t followed their procedures buried in the back of some email which almost certainly ended up in a spam filter.

As a service provider on-line you really should be listening to what peopel are saying about you… facebook, twitter and the like will ensure bad news travels very quickly… so using a google alert tolisten is a very good thing… as is responding to any criticism in a timely and positive manner.. rather than letting it becme a huge PR disaster that is likely to top the google search for your company… which has happened in the case of streamline.net. In the search for “complaints streamline.net” there are over 8,000 results… wow way to go…

Now there is a happy result to give you… I contacted my bank and told them, they referred me to another department who have looked at my facebook comments and have refunded 4 payments to me and will send me a form to sign… so if streamline.net have stolen from you go online to the facebook page and post a message (sorry you have to “like” the page first) then call your bank.. you can get a landline number by going to saynoto0870 and typing in your 0845 number or your bank’s name… sadly Simon Yeoman has yet to respond to my last email saying just refund me and get this sorted…. but I will send him a link… after all social media is about being fair and transparent… and of course giving the right to reply.

So who have I chosen to replace these people… Parrot Hosting… a UK company who know what they are doing, listen to what I need, guide me through what I need to do and charge me just £25 a year for hosting a domain for me.. oh and they have a CPanel  with fantastico for my wordpress applications and all my facebook fanpages are hosted with them (pst.. Simon Yeoman has no idea what fantastico is)… and when I want to call the number is on their website and it is answered in the UK by someone who knows what they are doing! yay!

So who has experiences good or bad they wish to share…?
